Determining whether Actions are Right or Wrong

The Bible presents general principles that permit us to determine the rightness or wrongness of actions (even those not mentioned in the Bible).

We can ask the following questions:

“Can it be done for the glory of God? (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Can it be done “in the name of the Lord Jesus” asking His blessing on the activity? (John 14:13).
Can it be done while sincerely giving thanks to God?
Is it a Christlike action? (1 John 2:6).
Will it weaken the sincere convictions of other Christians? (1 Corinthians 8:10-11).
Will it weaken my desire for spiritual things, God’s Word, and prayer? (Luke 8:14; Matthew 5:6).
Will it weaken or hinder my witness for Christ? (Matthew 5:13-16)” (Author Unknown).

Is Our Church Like the First Church?

The promise of power caused the disciples to assemble in the Upper Room at Jerusalem for a ten day prayer meeting.

They waited.
They expected.
They trusted.
They were united.
They were in one accord.
They received.
They were transformed.
They were changed.
They continued.
They changed their world.
They changed religion forever.
They “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).
They filled Jerusalem with their doctrine (Acts 5:28).
They became the New Testament Church.
They were the Biblical Church.

Becoming the Biblical Church

We must also be the Biblical Church:

“A Church which believes the Bible.
A Church which teaches the Bible.
A Church which honors the Bible.
A Church which lives according to the Bible.
A Church which reproduces the Acts of Christ.
A Church that steps out on the promises of God and exercises the power of God.
A Church where our voices are blended with the voice of God.
A Church where the impossible becomes possible, and is brought to pass.
A Church which senses the power of the Spirit.
A Church which is more concerned with a manifestation of God’s Spirit and power than with enticing words of men’s wisdom” (Anonymous).

Seven Thoughts about God

Deuteronomy 32:39 – None like Him.
Isaiah 46:9 – No God like Him.
2 Samuel 7:22 – No God beside Him.
Joshua 2:11 – No God above Him nor is there any beneath.
Isaiah 43:10 – None before Him and none after Him.
Mark 12:32 – None other than Him.
1 Kings 8:60 – The Lord He is God and there is none else.

Where is God When You Need Him?

Micah 2:13 – God is before His people.
Psalm 139:5 – God is behind His people.
Deuteronomy 33:12 – God is above His people.
Isaiah 40:11 – God is beneath His people.
Psalm 125:2 – God is around His people.
Matthew 1:23 – God is with His people.
Isaiah 12:6 – God is in the midst of His people.
1 Corinthians 3:16 – God is in His people.

He’s the God in my past protecting me. He’s the God in my present leading me. He’s the God in my future, waiting on me, yet He’s never moved. He created all things and He owns everything yet He purchased you and me.
